Naturally, blue sky and sunshine go together
Homes on Wakefield Beach are designed by the celebrated firm Blue Sky Architecture. Since they first started on Hornby Island in 1975, architects Bo Helliwell and Kim Smith have been building modern homes, adapting and enriching the Arts and Crafts style for the West Coast. When they create, Bo and Kim take into account the existing natural landscape, valuing it as much as the interior of a home.
For Wakefield Beach they have designed unique homes whose vertical log detailing recall the Wakefield Inn. Given the gentle slope of the site, the roofs of these homes create the most dynamic impression when viewed from above and below. So nearly half of the total roof area is landscaped. In response to the land and water of the West Coast, the architects have designed the roofs to have a distinct curve. The result is dramatic-looking and allows for gorgeous high ceilings.
The variations of building forms on Wakefield Beach ensure a diverse and visually stimulating neighbourhood. Each of the four types of homes are worthy of the Sunshine Coast.
